Rotork Fairchild pressure regulators selected for high accuracy

13/08/2013

Rotork Australia has supplied Fairchild Model 10 pressure regulators for research applications demanding highly accurate pressure control at the TRI Australasia facility near to Queensland’s Gold Coast.

TRI Australasia offers highly specialised services including a range of geo-synthetic testing and quality assurance programmes for a multitude of industries. The Fairchild Model 10 regulators have been installed on two processes where compressed air is used to check for the content of water retention within clay. Both processes demand highly accurate set point pressure supplies in order for the tests to maintain reliable results.

Fairchild Model 10 regulators are designed for applications where high performance and reliable set point accuracy are essential. Suitable for system pressures up to 34 bar (500 psi) and flow capacities up to 63 cubic metres/hour (40 SCFM), the Model 10 offers nine set point pressure ranges and is easily able to achieve the +/- 0.5% accuracy required for the TRI application.

Commenting on the Fairchild product, TRI Australasia’s Divisional Director Warren Hornsey said “We chose the Fairchild product due to the accuracy required and the strong name within the industry. It was also important for us to have the support that Rotork Australia can offer from their local Brisbane office.”

Low emission natural gas I/P transducers meet new environmental regulations

13/10/2015

Rotork Fairchild has refined its proven I/P (electric current to pressure) transducer technology to develop new models which exceed recently released government requirements for allowable natural gas emissions.

Rotork Fairchild TXI7850 explosion proof I/P transducers have long been approved for and utilised in natural gas operated instrumentation systems. The explosion proof evaluation of these units by underwriting agencies such as FM, ATEX and CSA™, using standards covering a constant fuel gas presence, ensures safe and reliable operation in the field with compressed natural gas as the supply medium.

In the USA new government regulations require all pneumatic controllers at the wellhead to have a maximum consumption of 6 SCFH (Standard Cubic Feet per Hour). In Canada and other countries, carbon credits can provide economic incentives to utilise low emission products, so the challenge is to provide controllers which reduce or eliminate these fugitive emissions.

The new Rotork Fairchild TXI7850 series maximum consumption levels are 3.6 SCFH for the 3-15 psi output range unit and 5.5 SCFH for the 6-30 psi range unit. These rates are for natural gas as a media and applicable all the way to the highest pressure in each range (i.e. 15 psi and 30 psi respectively).

As part of Rotork Instruments, Fairchild provides a complete range of regulators, boosters, I/P transducers and other products. Rotork Instruments can also provide fully approved switchboxes, positioners, solenoid valves and other actuation and severe service components to complete the automated flow control package.

Fairchild I/P transducers deliver high accuracy at very low pressures

11/01/2016

Rotork Fairchild has launched a new range of compact low pressure I/P (electro-pneumatic) transducers for instrument, analytical and scientific control applications.

Precise pressure control, where output pressures must be accurately held at low pressures down to 70 mBar (1 psi), has traditionally been a difficult task for industrial instrumentation. The new Rotork Fairchild T7500 range of transducers is specifically designed for these low pressure control systems with set point accuracy of 0.1%, even at pressures of less than 100 mBar.

T7500 transducers accept supply pressures between 1.3 and 2 Bar (20 and 30 psi) with mA or VDC control signals to deliver critical high accuracy output ranges of 0-350 mBar (0-5 psi) and 0-1 Bar (0-15 psi). Flow configurations of 85 l/m or 200 l/m suit a wide range of application requirements. In addition, the T7500 can be ordered with DIN plug, NPT conduit or terminal block electrical connections styles to suit assembly requirements.

Applications in test and medical equipment, leak detection equipment and other precise scientific areas are ideal for the T7500 transducers. The rugged cast aluminium construction and vibration resistant internal componentry is designed to withstand the rigors of both portable and stationary mounted equipment often found in medical and test situations.

As part of Rotork Instruments, Fairchild provides a complete range of regulators, boosters, I/P transducers and other products. Rotork Instruments can also provide fully approved switchboxes, positioners, solenoid valves and other actuation and severe service components to complete the automated flow control package.

Rotork Fairchild launches innovative high performance polymer pressure regulator

20/06/2013

Rotork Fairchild has introduced a new polymer pressure regulator with innovative features for high precision pressure control duties.

The Model 55 pressure regulator features a non-rising stem within a small footprint design, delivering high precision control in a lightweight and compact package.

Manufactured entirely from polymer and stainless steel, the Model 55 offers compatibility with medical and scientific gases such as nitrogen, helium and oxygen. Applications include precision pressure decay and leak testing, medical ventilators, respiratory diagnostic systems, balloon pumps and sterilisation equipment.

A patent-pending venturi design compensates for downstream pressure droop under flow and provides highly accurate pressure output control under all conditions. The separate control chamber isolates the control diaphragm from the main flow to eliminate hunting and buzzing.

With supply capacity up to 150 psi (10 Bar) and flow capacity up to 10 SCFM (283 litres/minute) the Model 55 controls output pressures up to 100 psi (7 Bar) to within +/- 0.2 psi (14 mBar) or better, even with fluctuating or rapidly decreasing supply pressure. This high pressure capability, combined with pinpoint accuracy at low control pressures of 7.5 psi (0.5 Bar) or less, sets the Model 55 apart from conventional regulators for demanding applications.

DP100 diaphragm pressure gauge – with hygienic process connection

Baumer’s DP100 diaphragm pressure gauge is a pressure measuring device specially designed for hygienic processes encountered in fields such as the production of pharmaceuticals and foods.

Specially designed for hygienic processes in the fields of pharmaceutics and foodsWithout transfer fluid, thus no danger of pollutionAvailable with a wide range of hygienic standard connectionsHighly suitable for SIP (sterilisation in place) processes

The pressure gauge complies with protection class IP65 and works on a strictly mechanical basis without using a transfer fluid. This prevents pollution of the measured medium even in case of damage to the diaphragm. The DP100 is available with a wide range of hygienic standard connections. All components in contact with the medium are made of stainless steel 1.4435 (316L). The membrane has a surface roughness of Ra < 0.5 µm.
The bayonet ring housing of the DP100 is made of stainless steel 1.4301 and welded to the process connection. Either laminated glass or a special flat glass for instruments can be chosen for the window. The pressure gauge can be operated at ambient temperatures of -20..60 °C. The instrument can endure a maximum media temperature of 80 °C during continuous operation and can even withstand short peaks of up to 150 °C. This makes the DP100 highly suitable for use in SIP (sterilisation in place) processes. A version of the instrument which can be completely sterilised in an autoclave is available upon request.
The pressure gauge is available for the measuring ranges 0..6°bar, 0..10°bar, -1..5°bar, and -1..9°bar and can endure overpressures of up to 1.3 times the scale range. Its measuring accuracy complies with class 1.6 according to EN°837-3.
Due to the fact that the DP100 pressure gauge operates without a transfer fluid, it is especially popular as an alternative to instruments with pressure transmitters in processes where pollution of the medium must be prevented at all costs. This is the case wherever media of particularly high quality are processed or where pollution of the medium would cause substantial health hazards.

ARID adaptor – enhances precision and safety in pressure control

With the double adaptor ARID, Baumer enables the combination of their MEX5 safety pressure gauge and their PBSN pressure transmitter.

Enables the combination of MEX5 pressure gauge and PBSN pressure transmitter

For harsh and potentially hazardous industrial environments

High process safety even in case of a power cut

Very good price-performance ratio

Both instruments are designed for harsh industrial environments with high media temperatures where precision and failure-safety are particularly important. Therefore, the PBSN delivers high-accuracy process data as 4..20 mA output signals while the MEX5 gauge indicates the local pressure. As the MEX5 works on a mechanical basis with no need for electricity, it provides a fall-back option, ensuring that the process can still be controlled in case of a power cut. The resulting increase in process safety is particularly valuable in the harsh and potentially hazardous environments encountered in fields such as energy production, the petrochemical industries, and biotechnology.
The adaptor has one G½ or ½NPT2 connection on the process side and two G½ connections on the side of the measuring devices. It is made of stainless steel 316L and can operate at temperatures of -25..100 °C while being able to withstand pressures of up to 400 bar. The PBSN pressure transmitter delivers a 4..20 mA output signal which is more accurate in this pressure range than the current output signal of a mechanical pressure gauge equipped with an integrated 4..20 mA transmitter.
Since mechanical pressure gauges with integrated 4..20 mA transmitters are relatively expensive, the combination of two instruments through the ARID double adaptor offers a more economical solution. The fact that the ARID adaptor makes it possible to use two measuring instruments on only one pressure port on the process pipe saves further costs because the user is not required to provide additional pressure ports for the additional instrument.

LBFS frequency-sweep level switch – New reverse assembly option

Friday, 18. February 2011

The new standard version of Baumer’s LBFS level switch is made from AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel and comes with a PEEK sensor tip. In addition to this, Baumer now provides the LBFS with special G½ process connections for reverse assembly. These options broaden the field of possible applications of the LBFS.

  • AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel with PEEK sensor tip
  • Special G1/2 process connection for reverse assembly
  • Can be mounted from inside of tanks and used as float-type level switch
  • Unaffected by flow, turbulence, bubbles, foam, and suspended solids

Based on the novel frequency-sweep technology, the level switch is suitable for measuring the levels of viscous or dry substances as well as liquids with a repeatability and hysteresis of ± 1 mm and a typical response time of 0.2 seconds. As the LBFS is unaffected by flow, turbulence, bubbles, foam, and suspended solids, it is particularly suitable for level detection in processes generating those.
The new G½ connection for the LBFS allows for two types of reverse assembly. The first makes it possible to mount the level switch from the inside of a tank using the included fibre gasket and a G½ nut. Fields of application include low level and leakage detection in tanks for oil or cooling fluid used in pneumatic systems or high-speed cutting (HSC) machines.
The second reverse assembly option enables the LBFS to be mounted in a simple G½ thread inside a tube to extend the length of the sensor. A fibre gasket and an M12 plug or 5-metre cable are included with the measuring device. With the tube functioning as an adjustable extension rod, the LBFS can be adjusted to changing levels. This makes it possible to use the LBFS as a float-type level switch in applications such as automatic dosing systems as well as for phase separation in the petroleum industry, hydraulic systems, and water/wastewater treatment.

EN | Baumer | CleverLevel LBFS / LFFS – the alternative to vibrating fork level switches

With Baumer’s CleverLevel series, you can enter into a new era of level detection technology that is convenient, precise, easy and maintenance free.

The widely used vibration level switches have vibrating forks that are quite large and which protrude quite a ways into the material being measured.Since pasty materials are prone to stick to these forks, it can often cause measuring errors.

With the sensors of the CleverLevel switch, no media remnants or solids are able to accumulate on the sensors. A precise and reliable level detection is thus ensured even under difficult circumstances.
