EN | Baumer | Bourdon – The Original by Baumer

Published on Apr 24, 2014

More than 160 years ago Eugene Bourdon patented his famous invention, the Bourdon tube. Over the years Bourdon’s measurement principle became very well accepted, and the name Bourdon established itself as a synonym for pressure gauges all over the world. Today many companies produce and sell manometers, but only Baumer produce under the original brand. Baumer still continues to manufacture the famous Bourdon tube adding on modern production and quality methods.

Accuracy of up to 0.1 % F.S. – PBMN for High-Precision Pressure Measurement in Industrial Applications

Thursday, 22. April 2010

With the PBMN product, Baumer offers a highly precise pressure transmitter for demanding applications in hydraulics or engine and vehicle construction.

  • Available with an accuracy of up to 0.1 % F.S.
  • Total error band is less than 0.4 % F.S.
  • Compensated temperature range from -40 °C up to +85 °C
  • Measuring ranges from 0..100 mbar up to 0..1600 bar

The fully welded versions are available with an accuracy of up to 0.1 % F.S. The total error band is less than 0.4 % F.S. over the whole compensated temperature range. The transmitter can be easily configured with the FlexProgrammer.

As part of the modularly designed PB series, which can be adapted individually to customer needs, the PBMN is the high-end transmitter for demanding applications. Thanks to the seal-less construction, the measuring device can be used in many different media. The PBMN is suitable for measuring ranges from 0..100 mbar up to 0..1600 bar. It is based either on piezoresistive technology (for pressures below 40 bar) or on metal thin film technology (for pressures over 40 bar).

The PBMN features a high overpressure resistance and long-term stability (0.1 % F.S.) as well as a very high accuracy over the compensated temperature range from -40 °C up to +85 °C. It is available with accuracies of 0.1 %, 0.25 %, or 0.5 %. The total error band in the compensated temperature range is less than 0.4 % F.S. for the version with 0.1 % accuracy.

The measuring device is provided with several output signals (4..20mA, 0..10VDC, 0..5VDC) and stainless steel process connections. A number of options are available for the electrical connection as well. The PBMN is delivered programmed according to exact customer requirements, but it can easily be re-configured using the Baumer FlexProgrammer 9701. The measuring range is one of the adjustable parameters, and the zero point can be recalibrated as well.

Pressure measurements up to 400 bar – Digital Pressure Switch with 3A-approval

Wednesday, 19. May 2010

The digital pressure switch series TED with several 3A-approved process connections are especially suitable for applications in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

  • Several 3A-approved process connections
  • Vacuum and absolute or gauge pressure measurements up to 400 bar
  • Accuracy 0.5 % of F.S.
  • Analog (4..20 mA) or digital (RS485 Modbus) output signal

All wetted parts are made of acid-proof stainless steel and comply with the FDA and EHEDG requirements regarding design, material and finishing. The digital pressure switch is suitable for vacuum and absolute or gauge pressure measurements up to 400 bar. The accuracy is 0.5 % of F.S.

The TED range is designed for pressure control in industrial process engineering, such as level management or control of cylinders. Based on microprocessor technology, the device can be programmed completely on-site using code protected keys without any additional tool. The pressure switch has a digital LED display and two threshold outputs (PNP transistors or galvanic isolation). The output signal can be analogue (4..20 mA) or digital (RS485 Modbus). The TED is available with many different pressure connections and in a 300° swivelling version. For applications in hazardous areas, Baumer offers its pressure switch in the intrinsically safe YTED version with ATEX-approval for zones 0, 1, and 2.

Process Instrumentation – Pressure transmitters PBSR for Railway Applications

Thursday, 9. September 2010

With the PBSR, Baumer’s PB series includes a new pressure transmitter suitable especially for railway applications.

  • Wide compensated temperature range from -50 °C to +85 °C with a total error band of only 1 %
  • High dielectric insulation (1000 V, 50 Hz, 1 minute)
  • Suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic brake control or cooling circuits
  • High voltage environments: pressure control of the pantograph on the power supply line

It features a wide compensated temperature range from -50 °C to +85 °C with a total error band of only 1 %. Therefore, it can also be used in braking systems of trains at very low ambient temperatures. Thanks to the high dielectric insulation (1000 V, 50 Hz, 1 minute) the transmitter does not need to be dismounted for dielectric tests on the train.
The PBSR is especially suitable for applications in which the pressure sensors are submitted to many pressure cycles, such as hydraulic and pneumatic brake control or cooling circuits. It can also be applied in high voltage environments, such as pressure control of the pantograph (a device that collects electric current with up to 2’500 ampere from overhead lines) on the power supply line. The pressure measuring range can be selected according to the application. For example, in pneumatic braking systems in trains, it ranges from 0 to 10 bar, in hydraulic braking systems in trams, it ranges from 0 to 250 bar, in cooling systems from 0 to 2.5 bar and in pantographs from 0 to 6 bar. The PBSR comes with a G1/2” process connection and a DIN43650 electrical connection. The device conforms to all important standards for railway applications, such as EN50155 (Electronic Equipment Used on Rolling Stock), CEI IEC 61373 (shocks and vibration), EN 50121-3-2 (electromagnetic compatibility) as well as the fire and smoke protection standards.
