Submersible Sensors PSMN / PSSN – For Hydrostatic Depth Measurement

Wednesday, 27. October 2010

With the pressure transmitters PSMN and PSSN, Baumer offers compact submersible sensors for hydrostatic depth measurement.

  • For measuring ranges up to 250 mH2O
  • For media temperatures up to 80°C
  • Compact design for use in 1-inch sounding pipes
  • Seawater-resistant and ATEX versions available

They are suitable in many level measurement applications in drinking water supply, wastewater, reservoirs, lakes and rivers, flood protection or pump controls. Due to the small diameter of only 22 mm, the devices are perfect for the use in 1-inch sounding pipes. The PSMN is available with an accuracy of up to 0.1 % F.S. The PSSN’s accuracy is 1 % F.S.
The submersible sensor PSMN is based on a piezoresistive silicon measuring cell. It is suitable for level measurement in drinking water supply, hydroelectric power plants or in shipbuilding, amongst others. The pressure transmitter has a measuring range from 1 to 250 mH2O and is offered with an accuracy of 0.1 % and 0.25 %. It features high long-term stability of 0.1 % F.S. per year and can be used with medium temperatures up to 80 °C. For applications in the ship building industry, the PSMN is available in a seawater-resistant version. In the execution PSMX, the transmitter is offered as ATEX version for the use in hazardous areas. The measuring range and the zero signal can be parameterised with the Baumer FlexProgrammer. The device is available with several current and voltage output signals, with different cable types, and with open or closed protection cap. A version with weight extension can be also provided.
The PSSN is based on a ceramic thick-film measuring cell. The submersible probe with a measuring range from 6 to 20 mH2O and an accuracy of 1 % F.S. offers a very good price-performance ratio. The measuring device features high medium compatibility and is suitable for level measurement in waste water applications, pools or flood protection, amongst others. The PSSN has a 4..20 mA output signal. It is available with or without protection cap.

PBMN pressure transmitter – Piezo-resistive and thin-film technology

Thursday, 2. December 2010

Baumer’s industrial pressure transmitter PBMN achieves maximum precision in measuring both low and high pressures by using different sensors.

  • Maximum precision in measuring both low and high pressures
  • Combined error of only < 0.4 % F.S.
  • Highly resistant to vibration, shocks, and bumps
  • Active temperature compensation within a range of -40..+85 °C

For pressures below 60 bar, a piezo-resistive silicon sensor is used. A metal thin-film sensor ideally suited for higher pressures is available for pressures over 60 bar. The robust PBMN pressure transmitter covers measuring ranges from -100..100 mbar to 0..1600 bar. It is available in three classes of accuracy: 0.1 % F.S., 0.25 % F.S., and 0.5 % F.S. Boasting a combined error of only < 0.4 % F.S., the sensor provides 0.1 % F.S. of long-term stability. The choice of output signals includes 4..20 mA as well as several types of voltage. With its wide measuring range and high overpressure resistance, the PBMN is qualified for a very broad spectrum of applications. The PMBN is easy to configure using Baumer’s programming device FlexProgrammer 9701.
Both the housing and all wetted parts of the fully welded PBMN pressure transmitter are made of stainless steel. Suited for media temperatures of -40..+120 °C, the transmitter offers active temperature compensation within a range of-40..+85 °C. The PBMN is highly resistant to vibration, shocks, and bumps, and complies with protection class IP65 or IP67, depending on the type of connection.
The PBMN pressure transmitter proves its particular strengths in applications requiring precision over a wide temperature range. Typical fields of application include process engineering, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration, the automotive and heavy vehicle industries, shipbuilding, healthcare, biotechnology, the chemical industry, and energy supply, as well as test benches, pumps, and compressors.

PBMN Pressure Transmitter – with Flush Connection

Thursday, 1. December 2011

Baumer’s pressure transmitter PBMN features a flush connection available in several standard dimensions such as G½ and G1.

  • Highly resistant to a wide range of media
  • No residues of the measured medium inside the process connection
  • Can be used in media temperatures up to 150 °C using a cooling neck
  • Especially suited for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries

Due to its full stainless steel construction without elastomer seals the PBMN is highly resistant to a wide range of media. Moreover, the flush connection ensures that no residues of the measured medium remain inside the process connection. This makes the PBMN particularly suitable for pressure measurement in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The PBMN is the high-end transmitter in the modular PB series and can be adjusted to the individual requirements of customers from these industries.
The PBMN with flush connection covers measuring ranges from -100..100 mbar to 0..400 bar and is available in accuracy classes of 0.1 % F.S., 0.25 % F.S., and 0.5 % F.S. The rugged pressure transmitter offers active temperature compensation and can be used in media temperatures from -40..+150 °C when using the optional cooling neck. This makes it particularly qualified for applications requiring accuracy over a wide temperature range. Furthermore, the PBMN is very resistant against vibration, shocks, and bumps. Depending on the connection type, it complies with protection class IP65 or IP67.
The total combined error of the PBMN amounts to < 0.4 % F.S. Its long-term stability is 0.1 % F.S. Selectable output signals include 4..20 mA as well as different types of voltage. With Baumer’s programming device FlexProgrammer 9701, the PBMN can be configured both from a PC workstation and on site.
